Tools to Increase Your Recruiting Productivity

RecruitAlliance is a tool that increases recruiters' billings.Whether you run a full-desk, focus on candidate sourcing, or are an account executive, it's helpful to keep on top of the latest technology for the staffing industry. Here are the top ten web-based tools every good recruiter should have in their arsenal, to keep their billings at the highest possible levels.

1. Evernote. This is a free tool you can download to your Windows computer. It's excellent for mobile or virtual recruiters who want to save important information as they search the web. It allows the user to capture all of their thoughts, ideas, and inspirations, into a single place. The information saved can be easily accessed when you're offline, or from a SmartPhone.

2. Contact Capture. This is a complimentary download that allows recruiters to quickly save contact information from the web, and easily upload it to their applicant tracking system or address book. What a time-saver!

3. Gist. A new way to manage your online contacts--a Social CRM. Gist imports your email and social media contacts on to one, convenient platform.

4. Fefoo. In the staffing and recruiting industry, you must be able to access information from multiple sources as quickly as possible. Fefoo is a new tool that enables you to search multiple search engines at one time.

5. SmartRecruiters. This is a free ATS and job posting system. The platform just went out of Beta last month, and has lots of useful features. You can quickly post your open positions on your own career-site, the no-cost job boards, and paid sites; right from their website.

6. StumbleUpon. Complimentary social bookmarking tool that helps you discover interesting web pages, photos and videos recommended by friends and like-minded people, wherever you are. Another good option for the mobile recruiter!

7. Focus Booster. A free application to help you get what you need done. It's a simple recruiter tool designed to help you eliminate the anxiety of time and enhance your focus and concentration.

8. Social Mention. You're probably already using Google Alerts, to keep up with your hottest candidates. Social Mention is like Google Alerts, only it provides real-time social media search and analysis.

9. Any Meeting. Do you hold online meetings with your virtual teams? Do you want to share your computer screen with candidates during interview prep or during client presentations? AnyMeeting offers both free and paid service, with all the bells and whistles of other online meeting providers.

10. RecruitAlliance. Search professionals gain access to hundreds of fee-eligible jobs, posted directly by employers. Recruiters also have the ability to post split-fee jobs for other agencies. Upon filling a job through the site, the Recruiter earns 100% of the client fee.

What Google+ won’t do for Recruiters

Google + cannot replace RecruitAlliance! If you search the term "Google+" on your favorite search engine today, you're sure to find hundreds of articles and blog posts on the subject. Talent acquisition professionals and agency recruiters are buzzing with excitement over the fact Google+ is going to be the "messiah" of social media; connecting them to those illusive candidates to fill their most difficult-to-fill positions. While the social networks are a valuable sourcing tool for recruiting specialists, many of the highest caliber candidates may not be found using this method.

In its early stages, Google+ is available primarily for the individual user. For independent recruiters, it's essentially just another tool to have in your arsenal - but certainly not a "magic pill." Facebook currently has more than 300 million users worldwide.

Consider the fact that if we took all of the Facebook users and gave them their own island, that land mass would be the third largest country in the world. Therefore, most recruiters regularly access the "holy grail" of candidates via this more seasoned social network.

Google+ is like the "hot new restaurant" in town, that's having its Grand Opening. While it's new and fresh, everyone is checking it out. In the end, recruiters still have to know how to actually RECRUIT the best candidates, and make placements. Social media sites may cut down on initial sourcing time, but they certainly are not a complete solution.

One recruiting tool that saavy recruiters have been accessing since 2001 is RecruitAlliance. This web-based platform connects hiring companies with third-party agencies to create a win-win situation. To learn more, click here.

Do you have the Traits of a Big-Biller?

RecruitAlliance helps recruiters simplify the business development process. Are you a proactive headhunter who pulls out all the stops to find your next placement--or a "post and pray" recruiter? There's a distinct difference between those agency recruiters who are pulling in six-figures and others who focus on squeezing in 100 calls a day.  What differentiates these two types of talent acquisition professionals?

Here are the top five areas you can focus on in your recruiting practice, to quickly go from average to exceptional.

1.  Plan your day and work your plan. If you're going to the office without a distinct to-do list, you'll quickly find that everything and everyone around you will dictate what tasks you can accomplish between 8am and 5pm.  Gain control of your productivity, by taking the time to set planning objectives for each work day.

2.  Use effective time management techniques. Set-up a schedule for recruiting and marketing calls.  Stick to your scheduled start and end times, without fail.  Avoid checking email, with the exception of once in the morning and afternoon.

3.  Leverage technology. Every recruiter should take steps to automate their recruiting process.  Use an applicant tracking system for candidate management, set-up auto-responders for routine email tasks, and incorporate social media sourcing to uncover more passive candidates are just some of the basic ways Big-Billers keep technology working for them.

4.  Create new strategic partnerships. Working with split-partners is a method for locating more candidates to fill your open job orders.  Are you utilizing a business-development partner like RecruitAlliance, to increase your number of placements while saving you time cold-calling target employers?  Top recruiters understand the importance of working through people and using the tools available to them.

5.  Focus on results. As a recruiting specialist, the one item that dictates your paycheck is successful placements.  Daily send-outs are absolutely necessary in order for your candidate to be hired.  If you schedule send-outs every day you work, you'll get results.  Take the spotlight off those tasks that are non-income producing.

Big-Billers aren't doing any one thing to achieve success--they do everything that has a positive impact on their bottom-line.

Tools that enhance the recruitment process

Unlike other professionals responsible for recruitment within your company, you see the need to evaluate new tools that shorten the talent acquisition cycle and make everyone's life a little easier.

As one of the hiring managers in your organization, you are constantly inundated with new tools to aide you in uncovering top talent.  New software, ATS add-ons, social media recruiting applications; it's truly enough to leave anyone in today's business world, overwhelmed.

What if there were a way for you to streamline the management of relationships with your third party recruiting agencies?  You know you spend time on the phone clarifying information, setting up interviews, giving updates, etc.  All this time away from your internal efforts makes using outside vendors labor-intensive, when it's supposed to make your life easier; resulting in a quick-hire.

RecruitAlliance is the premiere web-based platform that makes managing the recruiting process with third-party agencies seamless.  You just log in to your web-based account, post the jobs you want to want open to agencies, and headhunters compete to fill your requisitions.  The user friendly interface is simple to use, and external recruiters can easily communicate with you through the site.  Not only is it a more efficient way to manage the relationship, but it cuts down on interruptions in your work-flow.  By the way, there's no cost for employers to use it.

As new tools continue to emerge to help companies fill their jobs more quickly, it's important to keep in mind that there will never be a replacement for human-powered recruiting--those relationships with valued third-party recruitment agencies. Sure, other venues like social media and job boards may be a great place to extend your "employer brand," but they can't pick up the phone and interact with those high-level candidates your organization needs.  That will never happen.  RecruitAlliance empowers you to leverage your relationships with agency recruiters, to more effectively fill your most challenging positions with top talent.
